King George I of Great Britain

George I (28 May 1660 - 11 June 1727) was King of Great Britain and Ireland from 1 August 1714 until his death. He was the son of Ernest Augustus, Elector of Hanover and Sophia of the Palatinate. George has been married of his wife. Sophia Dorothea of Celle.

By most accounts, King George I was disliked during his reign because people thought he was pretty dumb. He apparently could not speak English until late in his life, which made him a point of ridicule in Great Britain. He was called “dull,”
