In this Manhattan loft designed by Joe D’Urso, long, linear shelves complement the apartment’s modern look. Stacking the books horizontally in small piles gives the whole ensemble a sculptural impression while also making the spines easier to read. The spacing between the stacks can also be changed easily, allowing the insertion of objets d’art. Photographer: William Abranowicz
