From Finnmarksløpet 2013. Finnmarksløpet is the world’s northernmost sled dog race. Hosted by Alta Sled dog Club the race celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2011.In fact, Finnmarksløpet is two races. One that is 500 km long and raced with up to eight dogs, and one that is 1000 km long with maximum 14 dogs in front of the sled. Both races start on the same day, Saturday of week 10 – in the month of March – in the biggest city in Finnmark county, the northernmost in Norway
There is nothing like seeing the sun again afther about two months of darkness in Finnmark, Norway. In Finnmark, the sun disappers (goes down under the horisont), in late november and rises again in late january. It is in short a cold but pritty sight for people living in the northern part of Norway
This cute Shetland pony named Donald (born in 1974), became 30 years old. He is here pictured with his last of many owners. My best friend owned Donald when he was about nine years old, so I have many good memories with him.
