apparently you should actually only use 'said' but hey, you do it your way >.^

I like adding a different word than said sometimes, because JUST using said sometimes means you add unnecessary descriptions that might become annoying i. he said sadly.she said nonchalantly. Or just use said, said, said.

Who is the character? What does the character want more than anything? And how can I prevent them from getting it?

This actually works pretty well. Any time I have plot point planned out I get writers block but once I think more about the characters the block clears
