Below are a few versions of “Stop. Go!” In addition to being fun, they also encourage toddlers to practice their motor skills while following direction. Stop. Go! – Get your toddler’s attention in the living room or another open space. Start jogging in a circle and excitedly shout “Go!!” while looking like this is truly the most amazing thing to do. Then shout “Stop!” and freeze. Once you’ve demonstrated this a few times turn to your toddler and say something like, “Now you go!” At this point, either you can chase them or they can chase you. It took a while for my son to understand the concept of “Stop,” but within a few minutes of introducing the game he was zooming around our apartment shouting “Goooooo!!” He just kept running when I said “stop.” I think he liked being able to outrun mommy. Stop. Dance! – Freeze dance is an age-old favorite for a very good reason: it’s fun! Play some music and dance around like crazy until the music stops and everyone freezes. If you have an iPhone and Mac computer, install the Remote app so you can start/stop the music with the click of a button. Shake, Shake Shake and Stop! – I learned this game during one of our toddler classes. All you need is a sheet or blanket. Give your toddler one edge, you grab the other, then start shaking the blanket while singing: ”Shake and shake, shake, shake, shake, shake, shake, shake and Stop!” (You can use whatever upbeat melody you like, the lyrics are pretty adaptable.)  My son also likes to sit in the middle of the sheet or underneath it, so that the material billows up around him while I shake it. Teaching Opposites with Stop. Go! – Another great way to play this game is to swap out “stop” and “go” for opposites like “slow” and “fast” or “up” and “down.” You can say “Fast!” before running around, then “Slow!” before walking. Or you could say “Up!” and stand up, then “Down!” and sit down. Any pair of opposites will work. If your toddler is a little older, try saying your commands super fast/slow. They’ll likely think it’s hilarious. Reading, Mouse And The Motorcycle, Childhood Books, Children’s Books, Childrens Books, Children's Books, Great Books, Childhood Memories, Beverly Cleary

I use these posters for classroom management. The Attention Getters are a great way to get the kids to listen to you. Instead of shouting stop or listen start these two way dialogues ;) The Space posters are used for behaviour management tell the kids that if they behave well in the lesson they will get a star, alien etc in their space...
