Samuel Hill Carding Mill at Lincoln's New Salem State Historic Site is a working replica of an animal-powered mill for spinning wool into fabric. It is the only one of its kind in the country. Operating the mill requires oxen to walk upon a 40-ft. wooden turntable. The oxen remain stationary as their legs turn the giant wheel to power the mill.
